Abstract
Dysommina pygmaea, a new species of ilyophine eel from off Western Australia is described and illustrated. The species is distinguished from the other three species in the genus, D. rugosa, D. orientalis, and D. brevis by a lower number of total vertebrae, a higher number of predorsal vertebrae, coloration, and a smaller adult size.
