Abstract

Epeurysa nawaii (Matsumura) (Hemiptera, Delphacoidea, Delphacidae) is recorded for the first time in the United States from six southeastern states. The species was first recorded through online community science records. This species is the first member of Tropidocephalini to be found north of Mexico. The earliest available records include specimens and observations from iNaturalist.org, dating back to 2021; however, there is no information regarding how the species arrived in the United States. The species appears locally common. Epeurysa nawaii is found on bamboo (Poaceae, Bambusoideae), including the native genus Arundinaria.
